HER Resiliency Center and Home Depot Foundation Transform Baltimore Training Hub for Young Women

PRESS RELEASE: Baltimore, MD – July 31, 2025

HER Resiliency Center will unite partners, volunteers and community leaders for a day-long volunteer buildout to transform its Triple Crown Academy space into a safe, functional and inspiring learning environment on August 7th, 2025.

With sponsorship from The Home Depot Foundation, the Triple Crown Academy offers hands-on training, mentorship and workforce pathways for marginalized young women in Baltimore. Over 80 volunteers from Home Depot, Kiewit Construction, DPR Construction, Carpenters Local 197, IBEW Local 24 and Milwaukee Tools will join forces to complete the installation and buildout of the Academy’s learning space.

“The Triple Crown Academy is about building more than walls and classrooms. It’s about building futures. Baltimore’s young women deserve to dream bigger and build stronger foundations for themselves and their families,” said Natasha Guynes, Founder & CEO of HER Resiliency Center. “We are grateful to The Home Depot Foundation and our dedicated volunteers for standing with us to ensure young women in Baltimore have access to the skills and opportunities they deserve.”

The Triple Crown Academy represents a major investment in workforce development for women and young adults who are ready to transform their lives through stable, well-paying careers in the skilled trades.

George Creighton, Home Depot said “The Home Depot and The Home Depot Foundation are committed to educating more people in the skilled trades and helping them find careers in the home improvement industry through our Path to Pro program. With nearly 400,000 open roles in the trades nationally, we can’t tackle this work alone. Since the program’s inception, the Foundation’s trades-focused partnerships have trained more than 44,000 participants and introduced more than 316,000 people to the skilled trades, surpassing its commitment to train 20,000 people six years ahead of schedule.

“We are grateful and excited for the opportunity to be a part of the HER Resiliency Center’s Triple Crown academy as we strive to work together to engage more candidates to fill the numerous trade gaps.”
